Botanical Body Oils

  • Macerated Oils - These oils use the suns energy to extract the beneficial properties of the flower.
  1. Add dried flowers to an amber jar followed by selected carrier oils. (Clean and sanitise bottles before use and dry thoroughly.)
  2. Place a small square of wax paper or cheese cloth over the jar to protect the oil from coming in contact with any coating on the inside of the lid.
  3. Secure the lid so that the jar is airtight.
  4. Allow the blend to sit in a sunny (not hot) spot covered by a napkin for a few weeks to macerate and extract the goodness of the dried flowers before straining and storing ready for use.
  5. Check oil regularly by tipping or rotating the bottle to help infuse the oil.
  • Infused Oils These oils gently extract the beneficial properties of the flower over time.
    1. Add dried flowers to our carrier oils to infuse the beneficial properties of the plant. If adding to our carrier oil pumps, ensure that a sufficient amount of oil has been used or removed from the bottle before adding flower buds so that the oil does not overflow.
    2. Mix and blend your choice of carrier oils by adding oils to an empty serum bottle or to our carrier oil pumps.
    3. Essential oils may be added if desired. Refer to our recommended oil dilution ratios.
    4. Store bottles away from direct sunlight.
  • Make your own Vanilla oil by placing chopped vanilla pods in a bottle of carrier oil. Allow it to infuse for a few weeks and then add the strained oil to a salt scrub, roll on, bath oil or massage blend.

Bath Oils and SoaksAdd mineral salts, dried flowers, Sandalwood powder (in a bath sachet) and diluted essential oils to a warm bath or just add essential oils if preferred. Add 4-13 drops of essential oil per 15 ml (1 Tbs) of carrier oil.

Essential Oil Roll On - Add a carrier oil to a roll on bottle leaving room for essential oils. Add 3-6 drops of essential oil per 10 ml for a 1-2% dilution. (Use Ylang Ylang and Geranium sparingly due to their heady scent. Conduct a patch test before applying to skin.) Allow blend to marinate overnight. Apply to pulse points and reapply as needed throughout the day.

Face Exfoliant –  Mix equal-part water (Witchazel or Rose floral water) and Sandalwood powder to make a smooth paste. Blend well to form a gritty consistency. Massage the paste in a circular motion around the face before rinsing with warm water. This facial exfoliator is a refreshing in-house mask/ mini microdermabrasion, leaving skin radiant and glowing. (To make a mask, add one of our clays in equal parts with a drop or two of your favourite carrier oil. A drop of essential oil can be mixed with the carrier oil to maximise the benefits of plant compounds on skin. Allow the mask to sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing.)

Massage Oils - Warm a little carrier oil in the palm of you hand and then add a few drops of essential oil. Essential oil can also be added to our 30 ml and 50 ml bottles of carrier oil. Please refer to our essential oil safety guidelines for dilution ratios.

Salt Scrub - Add 125g of salt into a bowl with selected dried flowers or herbs. Experiment with blending a combination of different salts if available. Dilute 9-18 drops of essential oil with 45 ml (3 Tbs) of carrier oil for a 2-4% dilution. Add oils to the bowl and mix well. Store salt scrub in a salt jar or air tight container.

Shower Steamer - Spread 1 Tbs of dried flowers on a lined baking tray and sprinkle with 25 drops of essential oil. Allow to absorb. Add 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt, 1/2 cup of Sodium Bicarbonate and 2 Tbs of water to a small bowl and mix well. Fill a mould with the mixture and let it set for 24 hours. Once hardened, remove the tablet from the mould and store in an air tight container. Directions for Use: Place tablet in a corner of the shower. As steam circulates, it will begin to dissolve and release the essential oil aroma.
